Services
Myofunctional Therapy is a non-invasive, completely pain-free technique of treating the muscles and muscle groups through massage, stretching and movement.
Using myofunctional therapy and massage , we assist animals who are injured, ill, active or just needing some rest and relaxation achieve optimum comfort and functionality. Our goal is for the animal to reach its optimum health, and to do so in a relaxing and nurturing environment for both pet and owner. Our staff is there to guide the client with any questions as well as to offer follow-up support.
Practitioners are up-to-date with all current treatment options, and being medically trained are able to ensure the safety of your pet by managing prior health issues. We consult with the animal’s veterinarian (as required) to tailor a treatment program specifically suited to your pet’s needs.
Myofunctional Therapy focuses on the muscle groups of the animal. Through specialised techniques, many other body systems are also stimulated, therefore providing benefits to the functioning of the entire animal. Through these specific massage techniques, the circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory and digestive systems can all be enhanced, providing potential benefits to the entire body.
In addition to allowing the animal greater ease of movement, your pet will feel more comfortable, relaxed and content as myofunctional therapy can also have the following benefits:

At Active Animals, a treatment program is tailored to specifically suit your pet’s needs. Following initial consultation and assessment, the specialist myofunctional therapist working with your pet will discuss treatment option for you to consider. These may vary from a single treatment, to a monthly treatment, three-monthly or annual treatment depending on the specific needs of the client
About Us
Marina Tsamoulos has been in the animal care industry for over 13 years. She has a Masters Degree majoring in zoology and marine biology, Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, Certificate in Animal Health, Cert IV in Training and Assessment and Certificate in Myofunctional Therapy. Marina has worked as a Senior Vet Tech and Aquarist at a marine sanctuary for 13 years, where she developed her interest and began her focus on Myofunctional Therapy. She has worked in this capacity with sharks, reptiles (including sea turtles), penguins, stingrays, fish, dogs, and small mammals. Her life-long passion for nature and conservation is seen through her unwavering dedication to the animals she works with and her determination to give them the best quality of life possible. The success she has had with utilising this form of treatment to treat conditions such as arthritis, development issues and trauma has encouraged her to make this her professional focus.
